Environmental Management Systems for Data Centers

IT energy consumption continues to grow seemingly without limit. In view of the increasingly urgent climate crisis, legislators have imposed initial energy efficiency and sustainability requirements on data centers, which are likely to be further tightened. Energy and environmental management systems will be part of these requirements. They are already helping some data centers to operate more sustainably. Initial practical experience with management systems according to ISO and EMAS, as well as the Blue Angel, show successes and potential problems as well as the efforts involved.
