Martin Schallbruch has been CEO of govdigital eG, which develops and offers innovative solutions for digital services of general interest for the federal, state and local governments, since 1 January 2022. Previously, he was Deputy Director of the Digital Society Institute at ESMT Berlin since 2016, and Director since 2020. In 2002, he became IT Director of the Federal Ministry of the Interior; later he headed the Department for Information Technology, Digital Society and Cybersecurity there. Martin Schallbruch studied computer science, law and social sciences. After a stint as a researcher at Humboldt University in Berlin, he joined the Federal Government in 1998.
