Prof. Barbara Schwarze

Chair of the Competence Centre for Technology Diversity Equal Opportunities

Prof. Barbara Schwarze is a sociologist and has been Professor of Gender and Diversity Studies at the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences since 2007. There she is particularly involved in effective initiatives on gender and diversity aspects in STEM. Her work focuses on equal opportunities in education, science, research and careers, as well as on digitalisation. She is chair of the Competence Centre for Technology Diversity Equal Opportunities (www.kompetenzz.de) and a member of the presidium of Initiative D21 (https://initiatived21.de/vorstand/). She is a member of the German Informatics Society, the VDI, VDE and Ver.di as well as the National MINT Forum. Barbara Schwarze works as a consultant with a focus on gender and diversity aspects in socio-technical research fields and is one of the founders of the initiative #SheTransformsIT.
