Prof. Dr. Andreas Dengel

Andreas Dengel is Professor for Didactics of Computer Science (Institute for Didactics of Mathematics and Computer Science) at the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at Goethe University Frankfurt. During his doctoral studies at the University of Passau in the area of "Virtual Reality in Computer Science Education", he worked in the SKILL project to improve teacher education. His focus there was particularly on the area of "Information and Media Literacy" as well as on the conception of innovative seminar formats for informatics education in all teacher training programs. Subsequently, he continued his research at the Media Education and Educational Technology Laboratory (MEET) at the Chair of School Education at the University of Würzburg on the topic of immersive learning with virtual reality in the classroom. His work in the research fields of immersive teaching and learning as well as media use in computer science education has received several Best Paper Awards from IEEE conferences and the Computational Thinking Education Scholarship from the University of Hong Kong.
