Sankar Das Sarma is a theoretical physicist, whose broad research interests are condensed matter physics, quantum physics, statistical mechanics, and quantum information. He is the Richard E Prange Chair of Physics and a Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland, where he is also the Director of the Condensed Matter Theory Center and a Fellow of the Joint Quantum Institute.
