Dr. h. c. Thomas Sattelberger

Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Research (off duty)

Since December 2021, Dr h. c. Thomas Sattelberger has been Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Research between Dezember 2021 and June 2022 and a member of the German Bundestag since October 2017. From 2017 to 2021, he was the FDP parliamentary group's spokesperson for innovation, education and research. A graduate in business administration (Duale Hochschule), he holds a Dr. rer. pol. h. c. from the University of Siegen and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Management (IAOM). From 2016 to the end of 2021, he chaired the advisory board of the University Alliance for SMEs. Sattelberger is a co-founder of the National MINT Forum and was its honorary spokesperson for many years until 2017. Prior to that, Sattelberger founded the National Initiative "MINT Zukunft" in 2008, of which he was chairman until 2021. For many years he was a member of the Accreditation Council of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Study Programmes in Germany. He accompanied the successful introduction of the Bologna Higher Education Reform in Germany for almost a decade. Thomas Sattelberger was chairman of the advisory board of the Deutschlandstipendium for many years.
